Professional Event Emcee & Corporate Event Host

More Than a Host. A Strategic Partner With a Microphone.

A great professional emcee does a lot more than welcome everyone, introduce speakers and keep one eye on the clock.

The best emcees become the connective tissue of the entire event.

I’m Nick Salvatoriello—a professional event emcee, facilitator, DJ and event strategist with decades of experience reading rooms, engaging audiences and helping live experiences actually work. I’ve hosted everything from corporate conferences, product launches and customer events to awards programs, festivals, workshops, webinars and gatherings with more than 1,000 attendees.

But here’s what makes my approach a little different:

I don’t just show up and host your event. I help you make it better.

I work with your event, marketing and production teams before the doors open to understand your audience, objectives, speakers, run-of-show and the moments that matter most. Then, when it’s showtime, I bring the preparation, energy and adaptability necessary to keep the audience engaged, the speakers comfortable and the program moving—without ever making the event about me.

Because your audience shouldn’t leave saying, “That emcee sure talked a lot.”

They should leave saying:

“That was a really great event.”

Your Event Doesn’t Need Another Talking Head

We’ve all seen the alternative.

Someone from the company gets handed a microphone because they’re comfortable presenting. They read the next speaker’s bio. They remind everybody lunch is downstairs. They disappear.

Technically, the event had an emcee.

But a professional host should do much more.

I think about the energy in the room. I listen to what speakers are saying so my transitions actually connect. I make adjustments when the agenda inevitably moves. I collaborate with your AV and production teams. I know when an audience needs some interaction—and when they very much do not.

Most importantly, I understand that your event exists for a reason.

Maybe you’re trying to energize a sales team. Launch a product. Build customer loyalty. Celebrate employees. Educate a community. Strengthen partner relationships. Raise money. Create content. Bring a distributed company together.

My job is to understand that objective and help every part of the experience point toward it.

I don’t just run meetings.

I engineer momentum.

What Does a Professional Emcee Actually Do?

Yes, I’ll welcome your guests.

Yes, I’ll introduce your speakers.

And yes, I’ll make sure everybody knows where they’re supposed to be after the coffee break.

But the real work happens around those moments.

As your professional emcee and event host, I can help:

  • Open the event and establish the right tone from the first few minutes
  • Introduce executives, speakers, entertainers and award recipients
  • Create smooth, intentional transitions between sessions
  • Keep the run-of-show moving without making the audience feel rushed
  • Facilitate panels, fireside chats and audience Q&A
  • Warm up the room and create appropriate audience interaction
  • Lead trivia, polling, contests, giveaways and other engagement moments
  • Coordinate closely with AV, production and event-planning teams
  • Adapt gracefully when the agenda changes in real time
  • Reinforce your event’s central themes and important messages
  • Keep speakers comfortable, prepared and looking good
  • Close the experience with clarity, energy and a reason to remember it

And depending on the event, my role can begin well before I ever step onto the stage.

More Than a Host — Your Event Partner

This is where my background gets unusually useful.

Alongside nearly three decades of DJ and live-event experience, I’ve built a professional career across marketing, customer education, partnerships, consulting, facilitation, podcasting and public speaking.

I was an early employee at HubSpot, where I eventually helped build professional training and certification programs and traveled around the country teaching and presenting. Since then, I’ve worked with and for leading technology and marketing organizations including HubSpot, Drift, 6sense and others while hosting, producing, facilitating and promoting live and virtual experiences.

So when your event team starts talking about audience personas, attendee engagement, brand messaging, speaker preparation, lead capture, content strategy or event ROI…

I speak the language.

I’m not simply waiting for somebody backstage to tell me what to say next.

I can sit in the planning meeting and help figure out what should happen next.

Three Things You Get When You Hire Nick

1. A Professional Host Who Can Read the Room

I’ve spent most of my life learning how to read audiences.

A room can tell you when it’s energized, confused, tired, distracted, curious or ready to move on—and the best emcees pay attention.

Sometimes that means adding energy or humor.

Sometimes it means asking the question everybody else is thinking.

Sometimes it means shortening a transition because the previous session ran eight minutes long.

And sometimes the most professional thing I can do is say less.

I bring polished stage presence without corporate stiffness, personality without making myself the attraction, and enough improvisational experience to handle the moments nobody could have put into the script.

2. A Facilitator Who Understands Engagement

There is a big difference between an audience that is present and an audience that is participating.

When appropriate, I can help your team build interaction into the experience through live questions, polls, trivia, moderated Q&A, contests, small-group discussions, audience prompts and other participation formats.

The goal isn’t forced fun.

It’s intentional involvement.

Done well, those moments can change an event from something people watched into something they feel they were actually part of.

3. An Event Professional Your Production Team Will Like Working With

Great live events are team sports.

I understand run-of-show documents, speaker rehearsals, stage management, presentation cues, confidence monitors, teleprompters, wireless microphones, walk-up music and the thousand tiny details happening behind the curtain.

I want your producer, planner, AV team and speakers to feel like I made their jobs easier, not harder.

I’ll participate in rehearsals and dry runs, learn the technical cues, ask the right questions ahead of time and stay calm when something changes—because something always changes.

That’s live events.

Need More Than an Emcee? Even Better.

One of the advantages of hiring someone with my particular collection of professional obsessions is that my role can expand when your event needs it.

Depending on the program, I can also support:

  • Run-of-show development and event planning
  • Speaker preparation and rehearsal facilitation
  • Panel and interview development
  • Audience engagement strategy
  • Presentation and slide-deck support
  • Pre-event promotional video appearances
  • Webinar and virtual-event production
  • Post-event interviews or content capture
  • Event DJ services and walk-in/walk-out music
  • Corporate after-party DJ entertainment
  • Professional sound systems and wireless microphones
  • Event consulting, facilitation and experience design

You don’t necessarily need all of that.

But it’s nice knowing the person holding the microphone understands how all of it fits together.

From General Session to After-Party

Here’s another unusually useful part of the VSP offering:

Your professional emcee can also be your DJ.

For corporate programs that transition from conference to reception, awards ceremony to celebration, or general session to after-party, I can help create one continuous experience rather than handing the audience from one unrelated vendor to another.

I’ll spend the day keeping your speakers, agenda and attendees on track.

Then somebody gives me a DJ controller and we make considerably less responsible decisions.

Professionally, of course.

Versatile Sound Productions can also provide sound-system support, wireless microphones, music programming and related event-production services when needed.

What Clients Say

“This was the third time we’ve worked with Nick, and he’s only gotten better each time.”
— Zak B., repeat event client

“He effortlessly worked the crowd, fit announcements in seamlessly, and was incredibly attentive.”
— GigSalad client, event with 1,000+ attendees

And one of my favorite descriptions of what I’m trying to provide:

“Nick brings a level of polish to presentations that takes an event from feeling like a two thousand-dollar event to feeling like a $100,000 event.”
— Justin Keller

That’s the goal.

Not simply having somebody onstage.

Having somebody who makes the entire experience feel more intentional, professional and alive.

Put the “Pro” in Professional Emcee

Your event deserves more than somebody who can read a script confidently.

It deserves a host who understands the audience.

A facilitator who understands participation.

A marketer who understands why the event exists.

A DJ who understands energy.

And an event professional who understands that when hundreds—or thousands—of people are looking toward the stage, somebody needs to own the room.

I’d love to help.

Professional Emcee FAQs

What is the difference between an emcee and a professional event emcee?

Anyone can technically make announcements and introduce speakers. A professional emcee takes responsibility for the audience experience between those scheduled moments—managing energy, transitions, timing, messaging, interaction and unexpected changes while working closely with the event and production teams.

Why hire an outside professional emcee instead of using someone from our company?

An internal employee can certainly host an event, and sometimes that’s the right choice. A professional emcee brings dedicated preparation, live-event instincts and an outside perspective while freeing your executives and employees to focus on their own roles. I can also work alongside an internal executive or host if having familiar company voices onstage is important.

Can Nick help create the run-of-show and prepare speakers?

Yes. My involvement can range from emcee-only support to deeper event planning, run-of-show development, speaker prep, rehearsals, panel facilitation and audience-engagement design. We’ll define the appropriate scope based on what your internal team and production partners already own.

Can Nick serve as both emcee and DJ?

Absolutely. I’ve been a professional DJ for more than two decades, and combining the two roles can work especially well for corporate conferences, awards events, receptions and after-parties that need both polished daytime hosting and entertainment afterward.

Does Nick provide sound and AV equipment?

Versatile Sound Productions can provide professional sound systems, wireless microphones, music playback and other audio support for many events. For larger productions, I’m also comfortable working within your existing AV or event-production environment.

Does Nick host virtual and hybrid events?

Yes. I’ve hosted webinars, virtual product launches, panel discussions, online conferences and hybrid experiences in addition to live in-person programs.

Where is Nick based, and does he travel?

I’m based in the Greater Boston area and regularly serve events throughout New England. I also travel nationally for select corporate conferences, meetings, launches and other professional emcee engagements.
